June 15, 2016, National Nature Photography Day – Nature Photography Day was created in 2006 by the North American Nature Photography Association. It is an annual event intended to promote conservation and the enjoyment of nature photography. Today is a day to grab your camera and photograph nature.
You can read more on the history of the event at the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) website here. NANPA is also hosting a Nature Photography Day event on their Facebook page.
Annual events like this one are a great way to introduce people to nature. And I encourage everyone to get out today with your camera and explore the natural environment. Let your camera take you on a tour of your local state park, town forest, or hiking trail. Enjoy what you photograph on your adventure, and remember we are the only ones who can conserve the environment for future generations.
This year I will be celebrating Nature Photography Day by shooting in the area surrounding Franconia Notch State Park and possibly in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. If you are stuck working in front of your computer today you can view landscape scenes of the New Hampshire White Mountains here.
Happy image making..
