Franconia Notch Book (Images of America series) – For the last one and a half years, I have been working on a photo history book that focuses on Franconia Notch. I am excited to announce that it is now public! Copies of the book can be purchased directly through my website. It can also be purchased at numerous retail locations throughout New Hampshire.

Published by Arcadia Publishing, with the use of archival photographs, Franconia Notch explores the rich and fascinating history of Franconia Notch during the mid-19th to late 20th century. Chapter one focuses on the early taverns and hotels that once dominated Franconia Notch. Chapter 5 covers Franconia Notch’s magnificent lakes and waterfalls, and the final chapter takes readers on a journey through the breathtaking Flume Gorge. And no book on Franconia Notch would be complete without mention of the famous Old Man of the Mountain natural rock profile; I dedicated an entire chapter to him. The large variety of black and white photographs in the book showcase early tourism in Franconia Notch. The old photographs look great!

The cover, pictured above, of a stagecoach in front of the Profile House establishment (1852-1923) is one of my favorite photographs of Franconia Notch. It is absolutely amazing that a self-sufficient grand resort, capable of accommodating 500–600 guests, was once in the northern section of Franconia Notch. Can you imagine traveling through Franconia Notch by stagecoach? It must have been an unforgettable experience.

Happy image making..

Hi Erin, if I purchase this, is there any way I could have it signed? I always enjoy your pieces on my beloved White Mountains-I live in Buffalo, but have been up there almost every year of my life (starting in 1961). I wish we could move there, time is against me now, however.

Bravo! I can't wait to get a copy. Will you be doing book talks and signings? I would love to attend. Either way, I am grateful for your excellent work. Thank you.

Thank you, Mj. Because of an extremely busy schedule, I currently have no talks or signings scheduled. If I do any, I will announce the dates and locations on the social media platforms.
